Winter talks

In January, Willie Robertson gave an interesting talk on the stained glass of Glasgow Cathedral. The windows are recognised as the finest collection in the country of Scottish 20th century stained glass.

The next talk will be on 12 March, and will be about masons' marks. Kilwinning Abbey has several examples of these intriguing marks. Masons marks

Outing to National Museum of Scotland

KH members enjoyed a trip to Edinburgh and had a guided tour of relevant exhibits in the National Museum of Scotland.

The Hunterston Brooch is a highly important example of Celtic art, made around 700 AD and discovered in 1826 by two ditch diggers from West Kilbride.

The whalebone casket was once kept in Eglinton Castle.
